Millets and Nutrition: A Sustainable Future

Over a decade ago, Hemamalini founded Ahobilam Foods to connect millet farmers with health-conscious consumers. Beyond selling products, she created a platform for small-scale entrepreneurs and operates a Millet Café serving nutritious meals. Through workshops and educational content, Ahobilam Foods promotes millet awareness, empowering communities to embrace sustainable nutrition and healthier living for a brighter future.
Why us

Why Ahobilam Foods

Our Goal is to Improve India’s Health

We are more than a business. We care about your health and are taking measures to educate our customer base about millets. We have partnered with the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR) to spread awareness on the benefits of incorporating millets into your lifestyle. We have also begun working with media partners to ensure the same. Finally, we aim to make millets accessible to everyone by launching two hundred stores and forty restaurants in AP and Telangana.

Support to Farmer Cooperatives

Millet farming is a major financially viable option for farmers who face the challenges of infertile soils, water shortages and droughts. Ahobilam Foods encourages the urban population to incorporate millets into its lifestyle, thus, contributing toward the livelihood of these groups of farmers who have taken the leap to grow millets. We provide financial aid to these farmers to ensure they use ecologically sound and organic equivalent farming practices. Then, we procure our millets directly from them and offer a higher share in income for their contributions.

Support for Small Processing Units

We provide investment support to local entrepreneurs for the installation of processing units for dehulling and flour making of location-specific millets. Local entrepreneurs already running small mills are also offered support as they have the necessary infrastructure and clientele in place.

Procurement Initiative

Procurement of millets will be organized and implemented in all millet-cultivation districts based on a relevant intervention price. Large-scale procurement shall boost production which is indispensable for the realization of different millets-related policy aims.
